The Assassin's Creed Experience

I have to be careful with this post because I could easily write a book about this topic. I am passionate about this subject. I have followed the Assassin's Creed series since "go". And, like a true fan, I eagerly await the next installment or transformation of the AC Universe.

For those who have a limited knowledge of the game and series, I will now dive into it for you and try to keep the info at a certain level so you might consider grabbing the games and play them yourselves.

In order of game release we have the protagonists of -

  1. Altair (Assassin's Creed)
  2. Ezio (AC2)
  3. Ezio (AC Brotherhood)
  4. Ezio (AC Revelations)
  5. Conner (AC3)
  6. Kenway (AC Black Flag)
  7. Patrick Cormac (AC Rogue)
  8. Arno Dorian (AC Unity)
  9. Jacob/Evie Frye (AC Syndicate)
  10. Bayek (AC Origins)
  11. Alexios/Kassandra (AC Odyssey)
  12. Evior (AC Valhalla)
There have been many DLC's released within each game. One DLC that was released for Black Flag, entitled Freedom Cry, eventually became an independent game. I did not list it because it was not launched as a stand alone game.

The storyline pits the Templars who desire control of society in every facet against the Assassins who fight for free will. The struggle wages in every part of the globe throughout humanity's history. Each game is a time capsule for the player to explore the land, people and culture of the given era of that game. There is a supernatural element to this story and I wish that Ubisoft would have left that part out because that element just muddies the remainder.

My favorites in the series are Brotherhood, Syndicate, Origins and Odyssey with honorable mentions to Black Flag and Valhalla. The next installment in the AC Universe has been rumored to be set in Japan or there about. Sucker Punch Productions has already released a game that satisfies much of what I was looking for in that realm of a Japanese assassin game - Ghost of Tsushima. You might say they beat Ubisoft to the Punch (hahaha). It will be interesting to see what area and era Ubisoft unveils and what format - disc or in their new Infinite subscription package.

In the meantime, if you guys get a chance to grab an AC game or try the whole series, please do so and send me some feedback on your experience. "We work in the dark to preserve the light, we are Assassins."
